You're right, unnecessary files will eventually slow down your computer. I don't immediately delete zip files but I do computer housekeeping about once a month and they go then. I never del zip files after extracting who cares let it be there when it is over load format the computer hehehe. I guess it takes a loooooot of zip files to actually slow down your comp or fill it up. But for me I just realise that they make it difficult to find files as they are strewn all over my documnets and they make the file folders look messy!

I tend to unzip a file, use it then delete the file i unzipped and keep the zipped file. This way it saves space and I keep the files labeled clearly enough that i can re-find the items if i need to.
